You Can’t Put a Price Tag on Love

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing one of the most beautiful and loving families I’ve ever had the chance to work with.

One thing I try to avoid with my family sessions is being too posed. I want to capture candid moments, moments you won’t see in a forced pose. When we started, I warmed up with Mandi and Grady by having them do a few simple poses of just the two of them while Elleigh was still sleeping in the truck. But once she was awake and out, that’s when the fun really started and all of those little candid moments began to happen. I just couldn’t stop shooting! The three of them immediately just started being themselves, as if I wasn’t even there (which is what I strive for!) I felt like a fly on the wall just watching this precious little family laugh, smile, and play.

Elleigh is by far one of the best babies I have photographed! She was like a little doll, sitting there just staring and smiling straight at me. Over the hour of photographing, she never cried until the very end but I think it was just because she was hungry (:

I went to high school with Mandi. We didn’t talk much or hang out but I always thought she was one of the sweetest people I went to school with. She has turned into a beautiful mother and has a beautiful family to show for it and be proud of.

With this session, I feel like I reached my goal of what I wanted to accomplish. I’m not going to lie, family sessions are tough, especially when you are used to shooting seniors and single subjects 90% of the time. But I left this session feeling accomplished and 100% satisfied with what I had captured. That rarely happens, or at least not until I get back to my computer to review the photos I just took (: I knew I had captured priceless moments, ones you can’t get back. Moments that you see in print when you walk into a family’s living room and think “wow!”, knowing those pictures are ones people cherish and leave hanging in their homes forever. Although I don’t know them well, I feel like I connected with this family from the start and captured them being the way they would’ve been had I not been around. But that’s what I strive for and try to accomplish with all of my sessions and it brings me such joy to know I am capable of doing such, bringing a family so much happiness and providing pictures I know they’ll keep forever. When Mandi told me they hardly ever have pictures of them taken I couldn’t believe it. How could such a beautiful family not have pictures taken? lol!

Anyway, Mandi, it brought me tremendous joy to capture these moments of your family and witness the love, happiness, and laughs the three of you shared together. You have a beautiful family and I couldn’t be happier for you. I truly enjoyed your session, which I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to be apart of.  It was definitely worth the drive and was the perfect ending to my Saturday and I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do. I cannot wait to hear your response! (:

Thanks again,
