Thank you for taking the time to stop by and get to know me a little. I will keep this as short and simple as I can for you (:
Photography and Education: I have always loved art, ranging from photography, drawing, to designing. I have been a creative and artsy person ever since I was little. I received my first DSLR camera as a high school graduation gift from my grandparents. Soon after, I practiced taking pictures of nature, my pets, but mainly my beautiful and photogenic sister. Once her photos were online, all of her friends began asking me to take their senior pictures. That is when Preslie Cox Photography began.
I am a natural light photographer and specialize in high school seniors but offer a variety of other sessions including small families, children, and couples/engagements. My sessions are shaped around your personality, lifestyle, and my passion for photography. I love the process of building relationships through my sessions and getting to know each client personally. I am a senior at Texas State University. I completed a BFA in Photography in the Spring of 2015 and will be graduating in May 2017 with a BFA in Communication Design.
There a few things that make my photography unique. After Preslie Cox Photography was established, I began investing in some of the finest photography equipment available. I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark ii and own a variety of lenses to capture the beauty of my subjects. I have learned my camera and all of its features inside and out and shoot everything on manual custom settings rather than on automatic. When I moved to San Marcos to attend Texas State, I made the switch to declare a BFA in Photography. Since then I have taken several film, studio, and advanced level digital photography classes. I’ve also had work displayed in a gallery in Austin in the Spring of 2014. I have received a variety of awards during my time at Texas State including the A Week in the Life at Texas State photography contest and my work was displayed in the LBJ Student Center on campus. I was hired by the University Star Newspaper at Texas State in September 2014 as a staff photographer; this past Spring I was promoted as the multimedia editor. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and talent through my photos. I spend hours continuing my education not only through my photography classes at Texas State, but invest time and money into workshops and seminars with well known photographers around Texas and the U.S. And last but not least, I have all of my work printed by a few of the finest and renowned pro-level printing labs in the U.S. My prints are unique and include mounting and finishing services that aren’t available through neighborhood labs.
Personal Life: Aside from photography, I enjoy spending time with my family (especially my grandparents), riding my horse Stoney, and exploring the San Marcos River. I enjoy anything that has to do with nature or being on the water. I am an animal lover, enjoy spending summers in Angel Fire, New Mexico, and being out on my family’s boat in Canyon Lake.
